You might not think of yourself as a Carer – many people don’t. If you regularly help someone who couldn’t manage without your support because of illness, disability, mental health challenges, addiction substance use or age, you are caring for someone.
You don’t need to be paid, live with the person, or provide personal care to be a Carer.
Supporting someone you care about should not mean sacrificing your own wellbeing – and help is available.
Caring is something most of us will experience
At some point in our lives, many of us will care for someone important to us – a parent, partner, child, friend or neighbour. Caring can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be complex and demanding. No one should have to navigate it alone.
Wandsworth Carers’ Centre has been supporting Carers in Wandsworth since 1995. We exist to make sure that caring is recognised as a normal part of life – and that the right support is in place so people can care well, stay healthy and continue living their own lives.
Good care needs the right support
Caring is not just about practical help. It can mean juggling work, appointments, finances, emotional support and everyday tasks, often over long periods of time. Without support, this balance can quickly become overwhelming.
That’s why we focus on practical, emotional and community-based support that helps Carers to:
Stay physically and mentally well
Remain connected to work, family and community
Feel informed, confident and less alone
When care is properly supported, it benefits everyone – the person providing care, the person receiving it, and the wider community.
About Us
Wandsworth Carers’ Centre is a registered charity and the lead organisation for Carers’ Partnership Wandsworth. We work alongside local partners, services and communities to improve the quality of life for Carers and to make sure caring is recognised, valued and supported across the borough.
Our vision is a society where Carers have choice and control, and where support is built around real lives, not assumptions.
