Parent Carers

If you are a parent of a child who needs additional support you are a Carer and we are here to support you

A parent Carers is one of the most likely Carers to be hidden in their caring role. They identify themselves as parents, rather than Carers, but many parents are both.

We recognise that for parents it can be very difficult to recognise themselves as a Carer and can therefore take them a longer time to discover the support that is available for them in their caring role.

CONTACT run services across the country to help support parent Carers caring for a child living with any disability. They have a local branch in Wandsworth and lots of useful resources for parents on their website here. You can get in contact with them by phone on – 020 8947 5260 or emailing them: wandsworth.office@contact.org.uk

We are committed to creating a service where parent Carers feel visible and supported. We are holding a focus group for parent Carers in September, to help co-design a peer support group dedicated to parent Carers needs. For more information and to sign up for the focus group please click here.

If you are a Parent Carer we have leads in autism, learning disabilities and mental health that all run peer support groups. Click the button below to find out about the groups.

If you would like more information or would like to access our services please email: Support@wandsworthcarers.org.uk
